Success

I was eight years old the first time I poured vodka into a coffee cup. My father had abandoned my mother and her three children, we lost our home, and we floundered for years. My mom was a stay-at-home mom, and both of my parents struggled with alcohol. I grew up in full panic mode, never able to understand or regulate my own emotions, and my ADHD only made it worse. Drinking became my answer — a secret refuge that quieted the storm inside me.

As I got older, alcohol nearly cost me everything — jobs, relationships, and even my freedom while living abroad. I finally reached a breaking point, and recovery became my lifeline. The 12 Steps, a dedicated sponsor, Celebrate Recovery, and my faith helped me rebuild my life, one day at a time.

Recovery taught me resilience, compassion, and the power of community. Today, I live a life of gratitude, service, and hope. Whether counseling students, collaborating with colleagues, or training for my next Ironman, I carry the same belief that saved me years ago: no one is beyond redemption, and every step forward — no matter how small — is a miracle worth celebrating.

In life's journey, it's important to remember that there's always hope, even in the moments. Recovery is a possibility for everyone, no matter the challenges faced. With support and determination brighter days lie ahead, inviting us to embrace a renewed sense of purpose and joy., we can navigate the path to healing and transform our lives for the better.
